Vultus Analysis Platform
Vultus provides a digital platform that analyses satellite and weather data to help growers monitor and predict crop quality and yields.
The Vultus Analysis Platform (API) makes use of general and well known vegetation indices and unique, patent-pending analyses to provide growers with a suite of precision agriculture tools focused on two crops:
- Forage Grass
- Potato
The vegetation indices within the platform can also be used with other crops, helping growers of other crops to maximize yields and minimize costs.
Vultus Analytic Services
The Platform provides a set of Analytic Services that when combined together, build out the two crop specfic Analysis Suites.
Plant Health
The Plant Health service allows growers to assess the health and vigor of their crops. This service makes use of a common vegetation index, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, or NDVI. If NDVI is high, the plants are lush and healthy. If it's low, there might be an issue with the crop, such as water stress, nutrient deficiency, or disease.
Water Stress
The Water Stress service is a tool that allows growers to assess the health and vigor of their crops. This service makes use of a common vegetation index, the Normalized Difference Water Index, or NDWI. When crops are well-hydrated and have enough water, NDWI tends to be higher. If the NDWI value drops, it might mean that the plants are stressed because they're not getting enough water. This could be due to things like drought or problems with irrigation.
Vegetation Indices
This service can generate an analysis based on a general vegetation indice. Vegetation indices are like health indicators for crops. Just like checking a person's health by measuring factors such as temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate, vegetation indices use the way plants reflect light to give an idea of how well the plants are doing.
Soil Moisture
This analysis allows growers to assess the soil moisture status of a plot of land. With this analysis, growers can detect and mitigate irrigation-threatening issues early, before the crop yield is impacted. Soil moisture used together with Water Stress provides a complete view of the water status for a plot of land.
Soil Organic Carbon
The Soil Organic Carbon service assess the amount of carbon that is present in organic matter within soil. This organic matter can come from a variety of sources, including plant and animal residues, microorganisms, and other living organisms. Soil organic carbon is important for maintaining the health and productivity of soil, as well as for reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Soil organic carbon (SOC) is is an excellent indicator of soil health and fertility and is often used as an indirect measurement of soil organic matter (SOM). High SOM/SOC content provides nutrients to plants and improves water availability, both of which enhance soil fertility and ultimately improve crop productivity.
Crude Protein Content
Our Crude Protein analysis is a unique service developed by Vultus. This service provides growers with real-time data on the crude protein content of their forage grass plots. The service allows growers to easily monitor their protein levels and make informed decisions to achieve better production results, optimize their feed, and maximize their profits.
Dry Matter Content
The Dry Matter analysis is another unique service developed by Vultus. By analyzing the dry matter content, growers can ensure maximum quality and yield from their crop. This service helps growers determine the best time to harvest their forage grass to optimize their harvest and get the best possible results.
Potato Analyses
Our potato analyses are a set of unique services developed by Vultus. These services provide growers with predictions on the starch content, yield, and disease risk of their potato plots. The services allow growers to easily monitor their plots and make informed decisions to achieve better production results and maximize their profits.
