Overview of the Vultus Analysis Platform

This overview will describe the Vultus Analysis Platform from the perspective of a user. The Vultus Demo App is used to describe the user experience. Please note that all apps integrating with the Vultus Analysis Platform will use the same basic concepts:

  • Requests,
  • Queues, and
  • Results

Requests

Requests are the foundtion of the Vultus Analysis Platform (Platform). The Platform makes use of two types of requests:

  • requests to produce an anlysis and
  • requests to retrieve the result of an analysis.

In the Vultus Demo App (App), you do not need to produce your own analyses. This is automatically done by the App and updated daily. The App, however, cannot show all available results of an analysis at once. You can load more results by pressing a button. When you do, a request to retrieve analysis results occurs in the background. This also happens when you select, or switch, the analysis to view.

Queues

Our aversion to queues is legendary. We all hate queues and queuing. Even so, we tolerate them as a necessary tool for getting things done. The Vultus Analysis Platform is no exception and makes use of two queues when processing your analyses. Please note, the use of queues means that requests to produce analyses are not immediate. The overall system load (number of requests in the queues) can impact how quickly the Platform returns your analysis results.

Download Queue

The first queue, and often the slowest part of processing, is the download queue. If the necessary satellite data is already downloaded, the analysis will immediately be moved into the processing queue. Otherwise, the Platform will download the necessary satellite data and then move the analysis into the processing queue.

Processing Queue

The processing queue produces the analysis results, based on the available satellite data. The App processes new analyses automatically. The results are available to you daily. However, you might not see new results every day. This is becasue satellite data is not always available for every day. Weather and the position of the satellites above the Earth may limit the number of days with usable satellite data. You can learn more about the satellite imagery here.

Results

Results! We love results for a variety of reasons:

  • Instant Gratification: Results offer that quick dose of satisfaction, a sense of accomplishment that is hard to resist.
  • Validation: Results serve as confirmation of our efforts and abilities.
  • Progress and Goal Achievement: Results are tangible milestones that mark our advancement towards something we want, feeding into our sense of purpose and motivation.
  • Control: Results offer a sense of control. They give us proof that our actions have direct consequences and impact.

The analysis results provided by the Vultus Analysis Platform come in the form of images. These images can show you intrafield differences (insights) over time. These insights, combined with your expertise, provide a powerful tool to affect the quality and yield of your crops.
